I. Degradable plastics.
Degradable plastic refers to the plastic that is easier to degrade in the natural environment after adding a certain amount of additives (such as starch, modified starch or other cellulose, photosensitizers, biodegraders, etc.) in the production process to make it less stable.
Second, classification.
Degradable plastics are generally divided into four categories.
1、Photodegradable plastics
In the plastic mixed with photosensitizer, in the sunlight to make the plastic gradually decomposition. It belongs to the earlier generation of degradable plastics, the disadvantage is that the degradation time is unpredictable due to sunlight and climate change, so it is impossible to control the degradation time.
2、Biodegradable plastic
Under the action of microorganism, it can be completely decomposed into low molecular compound plastic. It is characterized by convenient storage and transportation, as long as it is kept dry and does not need to be protected from light, and has a wide range of applications, not only for agricultural land film and bags, but also widely used in the field of medicine. With the development of modern biotechnology, biodegradable plastics are getting more and more attention and have become a new generation of hot spot for research and development.
3、Light/biodegradable plastics
Light degradation and microbial combination of a class of plastics, it has the characteristics of both light and microbial degradation plastics.
4、Water degradable plastics
It is mainly used in medical and sanitary appliances (such as medical gloves), which can be easily destroyed and disinfected.
